Secretary of the Party Cell of DK1 Oil Rig at the forefront of waves and winds

Nucleus at the top of the wave

In the middle of the high seas of Huyen Tran shoal, DK1/7 rig (Navy Region 2) has stood tall amidst storms for 35 years, being a sovereignty milestone on the southern continental shelf of the Fatherland. In conditions far from the mainland, the rig's Party Cell is the leadership nucleus, and the Party Cell Secretary is the "soul" of unity of the unit.

Talking to reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Dong, Secretary of the Party Cell of DK1/7 Oil Rig - who has just been commended as one of the 96 typical and outstanding Party Cell Secretaries nationwide - shared: "To make the Oil Rig strong, first of all, the Party Cell must be strong; to make soldiers feel secure in sticking to it, the Secretary must truly be an ideological support.

Having held many positions, from Party Secretary on Navy ships performing the task of protecting sovereignty, to Party Secretary, Political Commissar of DK1/19 and DK1/7 platforms, Lieutenant Colonel Dong always deeply understands the leadership role of the Party Cell, and emphasizes the exemplary responsibility of cadres and party members.

In leadership and direction, Lieutenant Colonel Dong focused on concretizing the resolution into concise, easy-to-remember, easy-to-implement contents, suitable to the specific conditions of the Oil Rig. Unlike the Party organization on land, the DK1 Oil Rig Party Cell operates in a closed environment, with a small number of party members, high task requirements, and is always ready to handle complex and unexpected situations at sea.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Dong, to successfully complete tasks in those conditions, maintaining solidarity and unity among Party committees, Party cells and units is a prerequisite. Along with that is promoting the exemplary role of cadres and party members, especially the Secretary of the Party Cell - who must truly be the center of solidarity, proactiveness, creativity, and close coordination with the commander in handling all situations.

Lieutenant Colonel Dong also especially values political and ideological education, promptly encouraging officers and soldiers to overcome difficulties and hardships at the forefront of waves and winds, maintain bravery, will, and determination to protect the safety of the Oil Rig, firmly protect the sovereignty of the southern sea and continental shelf of the Fatherland.

Successfully complete all tasks

In 2025, under the direct leadership of the Party Cell headed by Secretary Tran Van Dong, DK1/7 rig has excellently completed all tasks. Officers and soldiers have observed, detected, and directed more than 1,300 targets of all kinds; welcomed and saw off 10 working delegations with more than 400 delegates to visit and inspect; and at the same time did a good job of propaganda and supporting fishermen to operate safely and in accordance with the law at sea.

Officers and soldiers of DK1/7 Oil Rig promptly rescued 3 fishermen, provided medicine to nearly 100 fishermen, donated more than 100 national flags and supported over 15,000 liters of fresh water for fishing boats in difficulty.

The unit also effectively implemented the Program "The Vietnamese Navy acts as a support for fishermen to reach out to sea and stick to the sea"; chased away 38 turns of foreign ships violating sovereignty, provided medical examinations and free medicine; propagated and certified many turns of fishing vessels, leaving a beautiful image of the Navy in the hearts of the people.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Dong, maintaining a strict lifestyle of Party Cell activities, promoting collective wisdom, democratic discussion, and high consensus is the "key" for the Party Cell to always maintain its leadership role, and propose practical and effective measures.

As a result, 100% of Party members of DK1/7 Oil Rig Party Cell completed their tasks well and excellently; the Party Cell achieved typical cleanliness and strength; the unit achieved the title of Determined to Win.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Dong himself has been ranked as a party member who excellently completed his tasks for many consecutive years, achieving the title of Grassroots Emulation Soldier and Outstanding Typical Oil Rig Political Commissar of the Navy.
